Bio | Nadine Aateeyah

I am a registered social worker, trauma-informed psychosexual therapist, and founder of Al-Kīmiyā—a sacred space where clinical practice meets ancestral wisdom. With over 16 years of experience, I have dedicated myself to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, with a particular focus on people of colour, Muslim communities, and those across the full spectrum of gender and sexual identities—including trans, lesbian, bisexual, gay, queer, and non-identifying companions.

My journey in the community sector began as a teenager, volunteering under a Working with Children Check. Since then, I have devoted my studies to fostering healing and empowerment, deeply informed by my lived experience as a Muslim person of colour, daughter of diaspora, especially for those whose stories have long been silenced.

Academically, I began with undergraduate studies in English and Cinema Studies, followed by a Master of Social Work from La Trobe University. I pursued my passion for human sexuality through a Graduate Certificate in Sexual Health at the University of Melbourne and a Master of Science in Medicine (Sexual and Reproductive Health) from the University of Sydney. Currently, I am completing an Honours thesis at the University of Melbourne to further deepen my capacity to serve the communities I walk alongside.

Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with individuals affected by sexual violence, trauma, and the complex process of healing. My therapeutic approach is inclusive, sex-positive, and tailored to the unique needs of each companion. Rooted in ancestral love, erotic wisdom, and Sufi-inspired teachings, my space welcomes all bodies, all genders, and all truths—offering sanctuary for those reclaiming pleasure, voice, and connection.

This is not just therapy to me. This is what I envision as alchemical healing—a place to remember, re-root, and rise.

At Al-Kīmiyā, I integrate evidence-based practices—including EMDR, somatic embodiment, and psychodynamic modalities—within a decolonial framework. My approach is holistic, recognising the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. I believe in honouring each person’s sacred sexuality and empowering them to reclaim their pleasure and well-being.

Al-Kīmiyā is more than a practice; it is a sanctuary for healing, connection, and transformation. Here, in this house, we are welcomed, at our own pace, to embrace the alchemy of turning pain into power and reclaiming our narratives through love, spirituality, and embodied wisdom.

Al-Kīmiyā acknowledges that the land we occupy is the traditional land of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, where sovereignty was never ceded, and we would like to pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging. We further acknowledge our privilege of seeking and obtaining pleasure upon the land which holds a history of trauma and oppression for First Nations Peoples.
